Blog EntryDriving with Fresians :) May 10, '08 8:39 PM
for everyone

This Friday I was fortunate to help a friend drive his Fresian mares to a clinic near A & M for their Artificial Insemination.  I believe the stallion was located in CA therefore the long distance romance....It had been a while since they had been loaded in a trailer, so we had a bit of excitement as we got them loaded and ready to go, but once they were inside it was smooth sailing.  Our route took us through Houston, but we missed the rush hours, so it wasn't too bad. There was one point where the traffic was heavy, and a big truck slammed on his air brakes, and we felt that trailer rocking!  Poor babies.  They live in the boonies and so all the traffic and noises were very strange to them.  We arrived safely, here are the girls at the clinic.  They are very interested in the baby the arab mare has in the next pen.  (The baby is laying on the ground in front of her dam.)

They will remain at the clinic for about 2 weeks and come home pregnant (we hope!)

This was my first trip to the A&M area and I thought it was beautiful!  I loved the rolling hills and trees, and of course, all the ranches.

What did you think of the A&M clinic and accomodations?

They are at a private facility outside of Navasota, not actually at A& M. I'm trying to remember the name....and can't (sorry).

I am glad you made the trip safely and got the girls loaded. They are so pretty, i was amazed at them in person when we went to practice loading them the other day. Didnt realize how big they are. Did you ace greg? :) :) LOL....

A neighbor just recently leased a black Arab mare to breed to a Fresian. I sure want to see that baby when it gets here. I bet it will be really nice.

I haven't heard from them in a while. All I know is that they leased the mare to breed (earlier this spring) to the Fresian. Don't even know if they got her pregnant but I bet it will be a beauty.

Here is the link that shows a photo of the stud and the name of the mare. It is the Yellowhouse Ranch that has the mare leased:

I did some reading and no mention of the Arabian that I was told was leased but a black AQHA mare to be bred to him, ???????

yes, looks like a Western Pleasure mare that will be bred to the Fresian. A lady I know has a QH/Fresian gelding for sale. Her mare was unplanned bred to a fresian. He's a nice looking gelding, but looks more Qh than Fr.
